Starting this year, UAS Midwest is transitioning from a stand-alone conference to a year-long series of sponsored and affiliated events. These events will highlight the advancement of and opportunities in the UAS industry within the Dayton region and across Ohio. The new series is structured to leverage these events and spotlight our unique regional capabilities to substantially expand networking and collaboration opportunities for our UAS stakeholders.

The series will start with a UAS Midwest Forum on August 16th from 12:30 – 5:00 p.m., featuring:

  • A joint presentation on “Flying BLOS in Ohio” led by Art Huber from AFRL and Rollie Kanavel from the Ohio Indiana UAS Center
  • Followed by concurrent sessions featuring:
    • Building your UAS Business led by Frank Beafore, Executive Director of SelectTech GeoSpatial
    • UAS in Law Enforcement and Public Safety led by Doug Daniels, Senior Law Enforcement Training Officer and Senior Remote Pilot-in-Command, Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy
    • UAS and AFRL led by Dr. Reid Melville, AFRL Strategy Lead for Unmanned Air Systems

Other UAS Midwest events in 2017-2018 will include:

  • AzurEdge event in the fall of 2017
  • AUVSI Wright Brothers Chapter events
  • UAS Regional Roundtables
  • A demonstration of the ground-based sense and avoid (GBSAA) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) operations by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and the State of Ohio
